KUALA LUMPUR - A Datuk, his wife and their four children, who went missing Saturday evening while jogging in the Mont Kiara recreational park, have been found safe.

Brickfields OCPD ACP Muhammad Azlee Abdullah said the group were found by rescuers at the forest fringes of Country Heights Damansara at about 12.15am Sunday.

“They are safe and sound, but a little tired.

“They were jogging in Mont Kiara at about 5.30pm and went off the track.

“At about 8pm we received a call from one of the Datuk’s friend saying that the group was lost in the Mont Kiara jungle,” he said.

A rescue team comprising Fire and Rescue Department officers from the Sri Hartamas and Taman Tun Dr Ismail brigade, along with officers from the Brickfields police and the Civil Defence Department, were mobilised for the four-hour search.

Taman Tun Dr Ismail Fire and Rescue Department station chief Hamdan Maat said rescuers lucked out as the missing joggers could be contacted via WhatsApp.

“We stayed in constant contact with them and told them to stay put and turn on their GPS (global positioning system).

“We believe they may have lost their way and went off track while jogging in the rain earlier in the evening,” he said.

According to ACP Muhammad Azlee, rescuers managed to locate the group’s whereabouts at about 11pm, and finally brought them out of the jungle near the Damansara Country Heights area. – The Star Online
