KOTA KINABALU: Silam Member of Parliament Datuk Datu Nasrun Datu Mansor (pic) has been appointed the new United Sabah Bumis Organisation (USBO) secretary-general.
USBO president Datuk Seri Salleh Tun Said Keruak, in a statement here today, said the appointment took effect on July 1.
He said the appointment was made in line with the change in USBO which amended its constitution recently.
Datu Nasrun, a lawyer by profession is from the Suluk community. He replaces Baharul Sawi, who has been appointed assistant secretary-general.
Previously referred to as United Sabah Bajau Organisation, USBO, which is an affiliate of the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition, amended its constitution to change its name to United Sabah Bumis Organisation in its effort to strengthen and broaden the scope and functions of the association.
The amendment was approved by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) through a letter dated May 27, this year.–BERNAMA
