SEKINCHAN – DAP has accused its former ally PAS of initiating a slander campaign, following the discovery of a banner linking DAP and former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad here.
DAP supremo Lim Guan Eng said the banner, which includes a caricature of Mahathir with the words “Mahathir balaci DAP” on it, was intended to ridicule the party and its campaign in assisting Parti Amanah Negara in the Sungai Besar by-election.
“I believe the banner was the work of PAS. I have reasons to believe this is what PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has been saying.
“No (evidence). But it is in accordance with the statement made by Abdul Hadi,” he said in a press conference at the Sekinchan DAP office here.
However, Lim said the party would not be lodging any police report over the incident, stating that it would only be a “waste of time”.
“Police will only act if Barisan Nasional lodges a report,” he said. – The Sun
