KUALA LUMPUR – The goalscorer of Malaysia’s 1-0 win over Saudi Arabia in the AFC U-23 Championship, Muhammad Danial Amier Norhisham does not want to dwell on his new found popularity.
Danial Amier, who turns 21 on March 27, said he did not expect his contribution to the win to receive so much attention adding he is focused on winning a place in the starting line-up of Felda United.
“Previously, nobody knew about Danial Amier. Thankfully, after this tournament, my name has become popular and it is good for my career,” said the player who was once offered to play for Dunbar Rovers FC from Australia. However, he was unable to do so due to visa problems.
Danial Amier will feature for Felda United in the Premier League for the 2018 season, as his contract with The Fighters runs until 2019.
Asked if it would be a set back for him since most of his U-23 squad teammates will play in the Super League, Danial Amier calmly responded that only his performance mattered.
Yesterday, national U-23 head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee reminded his players to work hard for their respective clubs and make a name for themselves in the M-League.
