KUALA LUMPUR: Police will intervene if the proposed Bersih 4.0 rally on Aug 29 and 30 is about toppling the government, said Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim.
The Deputy Inspector-General of Police said police will allow the rally to take place according to the laws but would not tolerate calls to topple the government illegally.
“If we find that the rally voices out anything seditious, police will have to intervene,†he told reporters after a function at the Integrated South-Bandar Tasik Selatan Transport Terminal here.
On whether the rally would be allowed to go on for two days, Noor Rashid said the duration did not matter as long as it was carried out according to the law.
“If they want to have a peaceful assembly they can do it for three days, a week or even a month, we do not have any problems.
“But if you start disturbing the public, disrupt people’s lives and block access for others, this is causing disturbance to peace,†he added.
