Court Dismisses Palanivel’s Application For Damages Against Muneandy

in Latest/Politics

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here dismissed an application by Datuk Seri G. Palanivel for damages over an eight-day injunction period obtained by Ampang Jaya MIC branch chairman Datuk N. Muneandy.

The injunction, obtained by Muneandy on July 6, was to bar Palanivel from carrying out his duty as MIC president and holding any party gathering until a final decision was reached over the originating summons which was filed on July 2.

However, Muneandy had withdrawn his suit against Palanivel on July 14, following the Court of Appeal’s decision affirming the Registrar of Societies’ directive for MIC to hold its re-elections.

Muneandy’s counsel A. Vasanthi told reporters that High Court judicial commissioner Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab made the ruling on the grounds that Muneandy had locus standi and a cause of action.
