SAN JOSE – Costa Rica reported 18 new cases of Zika last week, which increased the toll to 1,375 cases so far this year, said a report issued by the Ministry of Health.
Out of that total, 486 cases were men and 889 women (121 pregnant women), with an average of 32.3 years old.
The total issued in the two most recent weeks shows a significant decline in total new cases: 18 in each, compared to 49 cases three weeks ago, and 127 reported midyear. Last month, 133 new infections were reported, 108 of them were pregnant women.
The Ministry of Health also said regarding the Chikungunya disease, that there are 3,084 cases reported so far this year (61 people more than in the previous week).
The ministry of Health also said that there were 371 new cases of dengue in the country.-BERNAMA
