PETALING JAYA – Four modified bicycles were seized by the police during an operation in Sri Damansara on Sunday (Jan 21).
District OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said the bikes were seized from four teenagers near the People’s Housing Project flats there.
“Acting on information from the public, an operation was launched and at 3pm, we successfully seized the four bikes,” he said in a statement Monday, adding that the riders were aged between 14 and 15 years old.
“We have recorded statements from the boys and their guardians,” he said.
Initially a trend in Johor and Melaka, mat lajak have now been spotted in Penang, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
These youngsters, who ride modified bicycles and perform stunts on public roads, pose a hazard to road users and endanger their own lives. – The Star Online
