KOTA BAHRU – The current cool weather in the district of Kuala Krai is a normal annual phenomenon due to the movement of the northeast monsoon wind.
Kelantan Meteorological Department director, Maqrum Fadzli Mohd Fahmi said based on its records, the phenomenon occurred since 1980 when the northeast monsoon blew between November and February.
“The lowest temperature ever recorded since 1980 was 16 degrees Celsius in February 2014 and the lowest so far this year was 19 degrees Celsius on Feb 22,” he told Bernama when contacted, here, today.
Newspapers reported today on the cool weather enveloping Kuala Krai district, causing residents to wear warm clothing to conduct their daily activities, especially in the morning, besides experiencing a misty atmosphere.
Maqrum Fadzli said the cool temperatures of between 19 and 22 degrees Celsius occurring between last Sunday and Tuesday could only be felt late at night until the early morning before the temperatures returned to normal at 23 to 25 degress Celsius yesterday. – BERNAMA
