TAIPING – A cook was ordered to enter his defence in the murder of a Universiti Teknologi Mara student near KM228 of the North South Expressway in Bukit Gantang last year.
High Court Judicial Commissioner Mohamed Zaini Mazlan said the prosecution managed to prove a prima facie case against Syarafi Abu (pic), 26, for allegedly killing Nur Syuhada Johari, 20, on Feb 2 last year.
Syarafi said he would give his sworn statement during the trial.
His lawyer, Muhammad Farhan Ahmad Fadzil, said he would call two witnesses to give their statements during the trial.
It was reported that Nur Syuhada had stumbled out of a black Proton Perdana with blood oozing from her slit neck as the car stopped in the middle of the highway during the incident.
She was taken to the side of the road by the accused, who then fled but was caught by passers-by when he returned to the car to get his mobile phone.
