KUALA LUMPUR – The Complaints Committee today expressed full support for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in carrying out its function as an independent, transparent and professional commission.
According to a statement issued by the MACC here today, Complaints Committee chairman Tan Sri Wilson Baya Dandot expressed the support in his speech at the handing-over ceremony of the Complaints Committee Annual Report 2014 at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya here.
“We stand together with the MACC and fully support what it has done as an anti-corruption law-enforcement agency which is independent, transparent and professional.
“We will also continue to boost the confidence of the people and ensure its officers can perform their jobs to fight corruption effectively and with commitment,” said Wilson Baya, here today.
At the event, he handed the annual report to MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull.
Wilson Baya also said that last year the Complaints Committee was one of the five independent bodies which monitored the work and abuses of the MACC, resulting in improvement measures of work ethics through internal monitoring.
“The measures have been discussed at committee meetings and presented to MACC’s highest management for implementatiion,” he said, adding that the committee was in the process of preparing a working paper for a module or reference by the MACC. – BERNAMA
