PUTRAJAYA – The Magistrate’s Court today released the sole owner of a trading company who had been held under remand for four days since last Friday over the investigation into 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
The 28-year-old man, the third of five individuals who had been held under remand over the 1MDB probe, was released on a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) bail of RM50,000 – RM10,000 of it in cash and the remaining
RM40,000 as oral assurance from two sureties.
The release order was issued by Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahim.
The man had been arrested to help in the probe under Section 16(a) of the MACC Act 2009 on seeking or accepting a bribe.
It is learnt that the man was arrested at the MACC office at 10.45 pm last Thursday when he came there voluntarily to give a statement.
The man is believed to be linked to a 27-year-old despatch rider who was remanded yesterday.
The Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court had issued orders to remand five individuals to help in the 1MDB probe. Three of them have since been released on MACC bail. – BERNAMA
