KUANTAN – The comfortable 4-0 win over Kuala Lumpur in the Super League match yesterday motivated the Pahang players and raised the confidence level of the team especially for the two new imports.
Pahang manager Dollah Salleh said he was happy with the performance of Issey Farran Morgan Nakajima and Amamchi Augustine Iwuji for their ability to score goals.
“The performance of these two imports differed in terms of their determination during training and actual performance during matches…but now they have proven their actual ability to their team mates,” he said at a media conference ast Stadium Darul Makmur, here yesterday.
Despite the victory, Dollah conceded that he was still not fully satisfied with the performance demonstrated by the Tok Gajah team and hoped this could be improved in the subsequent matches.
He was also relieved with the latest development after having accepted the loss of the team’s main pillar, Patrick Dos Santos Cruz who had to be rested after suffering an injury in the match last night.
“I believe Patrick Cruz will not be able to play in the next two or three weeks and he may recover after the Aidilfitri festive holidays,”he said.
Meanwhile, Amamchi thanked Dollah and his team mates who continued to give him the support to play well.
“The coach frequently encouraged me to score before the match and now I am grateful for being able to carry out the task given.
“The situation in Pahang is very different and I could easily familiarise myself with the team mates who are friendly. The supporters too always give their support which encouraged me to play better,”he said.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur head coach Fabio Joaquim Maciel Da Silva said his players lost to Pahang because they made several mistakes which resulted in the punishment that they received.
“In the first half, we played rather well when several scoring chances were created.
“But we wasted these opportunities and made several mistakes which enabled Pahang to score four goals…something must be done to change this situation because we played very well on home ground,”he added. – BERNAMA
