ROMPIN – It is “cockles bonanza” at Pantai Mempisang, Tanjung Gemuk here as a result of strong waves and high tides.
Pahang Fisheries Department director Adnan Hussain said the habitat of the cockles were muddy waters and the recent high tides had washed the cockles up the beach.
“Rompin is not the main landing area for cockles in Malaysia, although molluscs like mussels and cockles are found naturally here, but only in small quantities,” he told Bernama here today.
He advised the public to be careful of the strong waves when collecting these cockles. – BERNAMA
