KOTA KINABALU – Sabah Resources and Information Technology Development Assistant Minister Datuk Hamisa Samat has reminded civil servants to be more responsible and sensitive when using the social media platform.
She said it would be a disservice if the various forms of social media was being exploited, including to spread slander and disseminate wrong information.
“The world is changing and civil servants cannot run away from the social media. As such we need to utilise the virtual world as best we can and not to make viral any thing that has no authenticity.
“As civil servants we need to check the authenticity of any information spread on social media and not use it merely as a chat room or to spend free time as it can be used as a government medium to solve the people’s problems,” she said at the Aildifitri gathering of her ministry’s Islamic Welfare Charity Body here today.
Meanwhile Hamisa also urged civil servants in Sabah to strive to improve the quality of their services to the people in order to remain relevant to the community. – BERNAMA
