Civil Servant Ordered To Enter Defence For Assaulting Wife

BUKIT MERTAJAM – A civil servant was ordered by the Magistrate’s Court today to enter his defence on a charge of voluntarily causing hurt to his wife in the lift of a private hospital here two years ago.

Magistrate Fitri Sadarudin made the order after finding that the prosecution had succeeded in establishing a prima facie case against Mohammad Affandi Ismail, 38.

He set Feb 18 and 19 for Mohammad Affandi, a veterinary officer in Jerantut, Pahang, to do so.

On Aug 16, 2013, Mohammad Affandi pleaded not guilty to assaulting his wife at the Bandar Perda KPJ Hospital here at about 4pm on Aug 12, 2013.

The charge under Section 323 of the Penal Code carries a maximum one-year jail term or a RM2,000 fine or both.

The prosecution was represented by deputy public prosecutor Kamaliza Md Din while Mohammad Affandi was represented by lawyer R. Palaniappan. – BERNAMA
