PUTRAJAYA – China’s State Councillor Yang Jiechi today called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at his office at Perdana Putra here.
Yang and his delegation spent about 30 minutes with Najib to exchange views on bilateral issues.
Also present was Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman.
Yang presented to Najib a Malaysia-China Friendship 1974 calligraphy souvenir inscribed with quotes from the speeches of Tun Abdul Razak Hussein during the second prime minister’s visit to China in 1974 to establish ties between the two countries.
Yang arrived last night for a two-day working visit.
Yang’s visit is the fourth to Malaysia in his capacity as the State Councillor. He had visited Malaysia five times as Foreign Affairs Minister, between 2007 and 2012.
According to a Wisma Putra statement, Yang’s visit reflected the close relations between Malaysia and China and the strong desire of both countries to strengthen the ties. – BERNAMA
