CHARLOTTE Riley, one of the stars of hit show Peaky Blinders, is set to play Kate Middleton in upcoming telefilm King Charles III reports Deadline.
Adapted by playwright Mike Bartlett from his own Olivier Award-winning and Tony-nominated stage play, the show is a co-production between the BBC and Masterpiece and is set to air in the UK on BBC2 in 2017.
Written in blank verse, the one-off 90-minute drama will be an imagining of Prince Charles’s accession to the throne following the Queen’s death.
However when the new king refuses to sign a controversial bill into law, political chaos ensues with implications for Charles, his family and his subjects.
Tim Pigott-Smith is set to play the title role of Charles, with Oliver Chris as William, Richard Goulding as Harry and Margot Leicester as Camilla.
The play originally ran at the Almeida Theatre, with the theatre’s artistic director Rupert Goold helming the project.
