NILAI – Coca-Cola Bottlers (M) Sdn Bhd (CCBM) expects its new production line to boost capacity by 20 per cent, or 750 bottles a minute.
Chief executive officer, Stephen James Lusk, said the plant currently had five lines producing about 43,000 cases daily.
“The new line is part of the RM1 billion investment that The Coca-Cola Co had committed to invest in Malaysia when it decided to make Nilai its home.
“This investment is a reflection of our confidence in Negeri Sembilan, the Malaysian market and the local people that we employ,” he told reporters after launching the new production line in Bandar Enstek here today.
Yang Di-Pertua Majlis Perbandaran Nilai, Datuk Dr Abd Halim Abd Latif, launched the production line.
Lusk said the new line would be used to bottle Coca-Cola, Sprite, A&W, Fanta and Dasani drinking water.
He said the company expected to fully use the RM1 billion’s investment in the next few years.
“So far we invest nearly RM750 million in this plant and as we continue to expand in the market, we will continue to invest in manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, sales equipment and marketing investment.
“Those were the main areas where we will investing in the market for the future,” he said.
Lusk said the company would continue to look at innovation in the non-alcoholic beverages market in Malaysia.
“We will be bring some new products very soon to the market,” he said.
Coca-Cola has been bottled in Malaysia since 1936 and its Bandar Enstek’s plant started operations in 2011 and is today one of the most modern and highest producing Coca-Cola bottling plants in the region.
Currently, it bottles Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, A&W, Schweppes, Heaven and Earth, Minute Maid Pulpy and Dasani drinking water for the Malaysian market. – BERNAMA
