JOHOR BAHARU – Two men were killed after the vehicle and motorcycle they were travelling in were hit by a jeep in an accident at Km 2, Jalan Kangkar Senangar, Parit Sulong near Batu Pahat, at 12.05 midnight.
Batu Pahat district police chief ACP Din Ahmad said the victims, Saidi Abd Karim, 55, from Kampung Parit Mustafa, Parit Sulong died on the spot while the motorcyclist, Selamat Latif, 32, from Parit Sentang Batu, Parit Sulong was pronounced dead two hours later while receiving treatment at a hospital.
Din said that Saidi’s wife, Fatimah Kamsaton, 54, their children, Mohamad Faizi Saidi, 20, who was the driver, and Nor Fateha Saidi, 18, as well as the jeep driver, Lim Yan Boa, 28, sustained injuries.
He said the accident happened when the jeep, which was from Pekan Parit Sulong heading to Kangkar Senangar skidded into the opposite lane before it hit the motorcycle and vehicle.
The injured victims are being treated at the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital, Batu Pahat, where the bodies of the two men were sent for post-mortem, he said.
The case is investigated under Section 41(1) of Road Transport Act 1987. – BERNAMA
