KUALA LUMPUR – Three members of a family were killed when the car they were travelling in was hit by a gantry signboard after it was rammed by a container lorry at KM399.6 of the PLUS Highway (northbound), early Saturday.
Killed in the 6.35 am accident, near Tanjung Malim, were Dzulkarnain Kamaruzzaman, 64, his wife, Jamnah Ibrahim, 56, and daughter, Nur Juliana Dzulkarnain, 17.
Hulu Selangor District Police chief Supt R. Supramaniam said the incident was believed to have taken place when the container lorry, which was heading north, was rammed from behind by another lorry causing it to go out of control and hit the sign board and road divider.
“This resulted in the sign board toppling on the victims’ Mercedez Benz which was heading southwards. The three sustained serious injuries and died on the spot,” he said when contacted by Bernama, today
Their remains were sent to the Kuala Kubu Baharu Hospital for post mortem. – BERNAMA
