SEPANG: The remains of army captain Hasman Hussin who died in the floods in Missouri, United States arrived at the KL International Airport (KLIA) at 1.18pm here Wednesday.
Capt Hasman’s remains arrived via China Airlines from New York after the completion of paperwork and other formalities at the mortuary in Waynesville, Fort Leonard Wood.
On Dec 27, Capt Hasman who has been attending a course at Fort Leonard Wood since Oct 1, was reported missing after a vehicle he was in with four others was swept away by floodwaters in Missouri.
His remains will be taken to Melaka for funeral prayers at As-Syuhada Mosque in the Terendak Camp before burial at the Kampung Durian Daun Muslim cemetery in Masjid Tanah.
Capt Hasman leaves behind his wife Siti Hazwani Ahmad and three children, all boys, aged between three months and three years.
Meanwhile, Armed Forces chief Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin said the Malaysian Armed Forces was still waiting for a report from the US Army.
“The report will have complete details of the incident, including four others who perished in the floods,” he told reporters after attending a Maulidur Rasul function organised by the Armed Forces at the Khalid-Al Khalid Mosque in Kuala Lumpur, today.
Zulkifeli said Capt Hasman’s death was a big loss to the Armed Forces and said the Armed Forces would ensure the welfare of his family.
