KUALA LUMPUR – Police will today call the organisers of the forum on “Similarities Between Hinduism and Islam’, planned for this coming Sunday in Melaka, to advise them to cancel the forum.
Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said this was to avoid misunderstanding among the people over such a topic.
“In this issue, I will advise the organisers to cancel the forum as it could touch on the sensitivities of our multiracial and multireligious society.”
He said this at a press conference after the pinning of ranks on senior police officers, here, today.
Khalid, through his Twitter account, had also today explained that the decision was made for the sake of public order and religious sensitivities in Malaysia. – BERNAMA
