PUTRAJAYA – Three Malaysian families have been evacuated by local authorities and reported to be safe following wildfires in the northern and southern part of California on Sunday (Oct 8), according to Wisma Putra.
“No injuries have been reported,” it said in a statement here today.
More than 20,000 residents have been evacuated following the wildfires.
To date, 10 people have been reported dead and 100 others were treated for fire-related injuries.
Wisma Putra said the Consulate-General of Malaysia in Los Angeles was currently monitoring the situation and would render consular assistance accordingly.
Malaysians near, or residing in the affected area and in need of consular assistance were requested to contact the consulate-general, it added.
