KANGAR – A 42-year-old businesswoman claimed trial in the Magistrate’s Court here today to a charge of cheating an individual involving the sale of a RM30,000 ‘bungalow’, two years ago.
Siti Nurbaiyah Yahya or ‘Anggun’, who was one of the individuals detained recently to facilitate investigations related to DBI Properties (DBI) and Juta Kelulut Global Resources is accused of committing the offence at No. 5, Lorong Gonchar 2, Jalan Datuk Ali here, at 5 pm on Dec 23, 2015.
Her alleged victim was a 51-year-old man who claimed to have handed her RM30,000 to build a house on his land.
The charge under Section 420 of the Penal Code read with Section 34 of the same Code, carries maximum 10 years imprisonment and whipping or fine on conviction.
Magistrate Mohd Azhar set RM6,000 as bail with one surety and Nov 23 for remention.
Deputy public prosecutor Nur Nisla Abd Latif appeared for the prosecution while the accused was represented by counsel Syed Muhammad Anwar Lokman Hakim. – BERNAMA
