IPOH – A bus crashed into the back of a trailer at KM383.2 of the North-South Expressway (south bound) near Behrang lay-by early Thursday, killing the bus driver and injuring seven passengers.
Nurul Yatimi Mohamed Noor, 25, died on the spot. His body was taken to the Slim River Hospital.
The injured passengers, comprising three men and four women, were taken to the same hospital for treatment.
Slim River Fire and Rescue Operations chief Mohd Rosli Ibrahim said the incident happened at 2.51am when the bus with 27 passengers was travelling from Hatyai, Thailand, to Johor Baru.
“The bus driver who was pinned to his seat was confirmed dead on the spot by hospital staff while the second driver Mohd Rokdi Ahmad, 46, and 20 passengers escaped unhurt,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
Mohd Rosli said the passengers were taken to Johor Baru on another bus.
Six firemen with the help of policemen and members of the public took about 30 minutes to extricate the body from the wreckage. – BERNAMA
