Hakim, 23, brought led the victim into his rented room where he then committed the offence.
Later the same day, the girl told her mother – a Myanmar national – who then lodged a police report. Ismail was apprehended on April 9.
Ismail’s counsel Fadlyzil Ikram Norzailan Shah pleaded for a lenient penalty as his client had to care for his wife and a child (gender unspecified) who stayed back in Myanmar.
Deputy public prosecutor Norakmal Farhan Aziz sought a deterrent penalty as Ismail should have refrained from satisfying his sexual urge on an underaged child.
Judge Unaizah Mohd ordered Ismail’s five-year-jail term to run from his date of arrest.
