TAIPING – The Bukit Merah Laketown Resort (BMLR) water theme park reopened today after being temporarily shut down since Sept 28 due to cases of acute gastroenteritis (AGE) and Rotavirus.
BMLR general manager Kamal Hussein said the theme park’s management had carried out various cleaning work, as well as improvements in the pipes and filtration systems during the shutdown.
“Besides, we also carry out regular maintenance such as chlorination of the water four times a day, and record the level of chlorine in the water,” he said when contacted here.
He said BMLR had given full cooperation during the shutdown and investigations by Perak Health Department, and followed all the set directives.
“Water samples were taken from seven locations in the theme park to ensure it is safe to visit and is free of the disease,” he said.
Kamal said the re-opening of the theme park was accompanied with a new attraction for visitors, namely The Giant Wet Bubble.
In addition, BMLR is also offering a promotional entrance fee of RM18 from today until Nov 3, a discount from the normal price of RM38 for adults and RM22 for children.
Some 70 cases of AGE were reported in Kedah, Penang and Perak, and 54 of them were found to be Rotavirus positive after victims had visited the park on Sept 24. – BERNAMA
