BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB), Capital of Brunei, is ranked among the cheapest cities in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region to live in, according to a survey on living cost worldwide by the magazine The Economist, China’s Xinhua news agency reported.

BSB was placed 92nd out of 133 cities globally (ranked 95th in 2016 survey; higher placing indicates higher cost of living).

Other relatively inexpensive cities in the region were Manila (92nd, tied with BSB), Jakarta (82nd), Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh City (both 78th), a local news daily Borneo Bulletin reported on Monday, quoting the recent released survey results.

The Economist’s cost-of-living survey, which compares the prices of 160 goods and services in 133 cities around the world, also stated that Singapore retains its title as the world’s most costly city for a fourth consecutive year, while Bangkok ranked as the second most expensive city in the ASEAN region (51st).
