BUTTERWORTH – One week ago, on his fourth birthday, Muhammad Aseem Mohd Khalil survived an accident which claimed his father’s life in Kepala Batas, Seberang Perai Utara.
Yesterday, the boy was killed in another accident in Kepala Batas while on his way back from a clinic after attending to his wounds from the previous crash.
In the noon tragedy, the Proton Persona he was travelling in, slammed into a tree in Permatang Durian, killing him on the spot.
Aseem’s mother and his 7-month-old brother, survived the accident and were rushed to Kepala Batas Hospital, together with his uncle who was driving the car.
The family was returning home after taking Aseem to clean his wounds at Penaga Health Clinic when the accident occurred.
Last night, Aseem’s remains was laid to rest next his 32-year-old father, Mohamad Khalil Abd Gani’s grave at Kampung Pekan Muslim cemetery in Kubang Rotan here.
About 300 people, comprising of relatives, family members and friends performed the final prayers for the boy at the Nurul Ihsan mosque nearby.
Aseem’s grandfather Azahar Saffar, 58, said he recalled that on Wednesday, Aseem had asked his mother about paradise.
“He wanted to know about paradise and asked his mother to take him there,” he told Harian Metro when met at Kepala Batas Hospital mortuary yesterday evening.
Azahar said he was still trying to come to terms that he had lost both his grandchild and son-in-law in such a short span.
In the Aug 30 accident, Aseem and his father was travelling home to Bertam Perdana after celebrating the boy’s birthday.
However, their motorcycle was involved in a crash with a car at Jalan Pinggiran Bertam, killing Mohd Khalil on the spot.
Aseem survived with injuries to his arms, feet and head. – NST
