KUALA LUMPUR – A black plastic package placed on a tree which sparked a bomb scare at a condominium in Jalan Kuching here yesterday turned out to be an empty and harmless polystyrene box.
Sentul Police deputy chief Supt Mohd Sukri Kaman said they were informed of the discovery of a package at about 5 pm and a team of policemen with the canine unit (K9) inspected the area and confirmed that the package contained an empty polystyrene box.
“There was no bomb. It was just an empty polystyrene box,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
He said the police, however, were investigating further into the case.
Meanwhile, Sentul Fire and Rescue station senior officer Zakaria Yusof said four firemen and a fire engine were rushed to the location after being alerted of the case.
“We were there to assist the police as the package was found on a tree located near a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders storage area,” he said.
