SIBU – The body of a teenage girl who was missing after a boat she was in capsized in Sungai Mukah yesterday, was found about five kilometres from the scene of the incident early today.
Mukah district police chif DSP Jimmy Panyau said the body of Nurul Atikah Rosli, 17, from Kampung Tanjung, Mukah district was found at 8.05 am in Petian beach.
He said police were informed of the discovery by a fisherman, who later brought the body to the Mukah Hospital.
Subsequently the search and rescue operation by personnel of the Mukah Fire and Rescue Department, police and Public Defence Department were halted, he said when contacted here.
In the 6 am incident yesterday, Nurul Atikah was on the boat heading to Mukah town with boat owner Hipni Majedi, 36, and three other passengers, Jali Ghani, 36, Eliyana Wahida, 15, and Siti Hawa Bujang, 47.
The others survived the ordeal.
The fragmented boat was found in Kuala Mukah at about 4 pm. – BERNAMA
