LANGKAWI : The body of hip-hop dance champion Jayden Koi Kian Boon, 21, was found 22 hours after he was reported missing during a beach outing in Pantai Cenang, here.
Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) district chief Maritime First Admiral Tan Kok Kwee said search and rescue members found the body washed ashore at Pantai Tengah at about 12.45pm Friday.
Koi was reportedly carried away by strong currents while swimming with two friends, Tea Wei Jie, 20, and Leong Zhen Yen, 20, who were rescued by lifeguards around 1.25pm Thursday.
Admiral Tan said Koi’s body was handed over to police for further action.
Koi, from Bandar Puchong Jaya, Puchong, Selangor, was on a holiday in Langkawi with 16 friends. They arrived on Thursday morning and were scheduled to leave Saturday.
Koi led the dance group Red Lycans, which emerged champion in the national-level Battleground 2016 hip-hop popping dance competition organised by Astro.
The group were planning to take part in the Asian Battleground 2016 competition scheduled on Oct 8.
