Boatman Killed In Two-Boat Collision Near Pulau Perhentian

BESUT – Two boats collided in the waters of Pulau Perhentian off the coast here last night, resulting in the death of one of the boatmen.

Boatman Rawi Ibrahim, 40, went missing following the mishap at 11.30pm and his body was found at 10.25am today, said Besut Police chief Supt Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi.

The other boat, handled by boatman Mohd Nazmi Daud, 27, had four passengers – a couple and their 16-month-old son and a tourist – who were returning to the fishing village after dinner at Long Beach, he said.

All six people were hurled into the sea by the impact of the collision, he said, adding that only Rawi went missing.

Tourist Abdul Mohaimin Zamzuri was injured in the hands and was sent to the Besut Hospital, he said.

Rawi’s body was also sent to the hospital. – BERNAMA
