MUADZAM SHAH – The Barisan Nasional coordinator for the Rompin Parliamentary by-election Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein is satisfied with the operations of the BN machinery in the run-up to polling day tomorrow.
He said members of the party machinery in the 38 district polling centres (PDM) already knew their task and responsibility to ensure that the people come out to vote.
“After almost two weeks, on the eve of polling day I am relieved that the machineries at all the PDM already knew of their tasks to ensure the voting process tomorrow runs smoothly,” he told reporters after visiting the Felda Selancar 1 PDM Operations Room, near here today.
Also present was Melaka chief minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron, who is also a member of the Umno Supreme Council (MT).
Hishammuddin, who is also the defence minister, wanted the BN operations to continue on polling day tomorrow especially in terms of transporting the voters to the polling centres.
A total of 52,744 voters are eligible to cast their votes tomorrow while 464 of the 545 early voters had voted on Thursday.
The by-election will see a straight fight between BN candidate Datuk Hasan Arifin and PAS candidate Nazri Ahmad to fill the vacancy following the death of the incumbent, Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis.- BERNAMA
