PENAMPANG – Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders and its component parties have been reminded not be too complacent and think that victory would always be in their hands.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said they should not underestimate the power of the people as voters and that they must be consistent in meeting the people at the grassroots level to render assistance.
“I have always reminded myself, never forget the people…that’s what the democracy system is about… power lies in the people’s hands . When there is no election, we must look after the hearts of the people.
“We must address what the people want. Don’t wait to do that only during official programmes. We must feel the pulse of the people and focus on them,” he said when opening the United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation’s (UPKO) annual convention here today.
Also present were Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman; UPKO Acting President Datuk Madius Tangau, who is also Science, Technology and Innovation Minister; and UPKO Honorary President and Malaysian ambassador to Vatican City, Tan Sri Bernard Dompok. – BERNAMA
