KUCHING – The BN government at federal and state level is very much rural development-oriented as shown from the substantial allocation in Budget 2017, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
“We have formed a main committee to coordinate and streamline all activities from the ministry which has many income-generating programmes for the rural community and that of the state Modernisation of Agriculture and Rural Economy Ministry.
“We also have another committee to coordinate activities of 31 agencies under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (MRRD) and the state to avoid duplication and people being left out besides attending to other problems,” he said.
He told the media this after launching the MRRD’s Mobile Entrepreneurs programme here today.
Meanwhile, MRRD Deputy Minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi said the ministry hoped to create 500 mobile entrepreneurs nationwide within this year.
“Those selected for the programmes will include those who have recieved vocational training in the relevant skills. We will also include those already in business,” he said. – BERNAMA
