PUTRAJAYA: The Putrajaya Youth Festival from May 22-24 will be a bigger and more vibrant showcase that marks the regeneration of Rakan Muda, said Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
The festival is aimed at showcasing the collective talent of youths and spark inspiration through various workshops, activities and events.
“Apart from all the changes in physical appearance which is aimed at giving festival goers a more exciting and unique experience, the biggest difference this year is that the content is truly mobilized and fleshed from the youth, for the youth,” Khairy said at the launch of the festival.
He said every ministry had taken initiatives to cut down on the cost of their programmes due to the present economic situation. Similarly, he said, his ministry would reduce cost this year by almost half to RM5mil.
“We have been cutting cost since last year itself and we could still attract a huge turnout. We have been organizing the festival for many years now and we know what are the activities or programmes that can be reduced without affecting the festival-going experience.
“For example, instead of spending a lot of money on promotions in the mass media, we use social media to publicise the event which is more cost-effective.
“Despite that I’m glad to say that the festival has become a strong brand name with many followers looking forward to this event every year,†he said.
The location of the festival will be shifted to Presint 4, which spreads from Dataran Gemilang to Galeria Putrajaya Holdings compared to the previous location which focused only on Presint 2 and 3.-The Star
