KUALA LUMPUR: Police have not issued any notice about road closures in the city due to the Bersih rally on Nov 19, says Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pic).
“We have not issued anything on road closures yet,” he said, rubbishing the notion.
A list of roads that are supposedly going to be closed during the upcoming Bersih 5 rally has been making its rounds on social media and messaging app WhatsApp.
It said that roads would be closed to motorists from 5am to 6pm on Saturday, Nov 19.
The list includes major roads in the city such as Jalan Kuching, Jalan Mahameru, Jalan Tun Ismail, Jalan Sultan Ismail Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Ipoh, Bulatan Pahang, Jalan Raja Muda Abdul Aziz, Jalan Ampang, Jalan P.Ramlee, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Pasar, Jalan Dewan Bahasa, Jalan Loke Yew, Jalan Hang Tuah, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Raja Chulan and Jalan Gereja.
The message also stated that the gathering was scheduled to take place at Dataran Merdeka and protesters could meet at Dataran Maybank and Masjid Negara.
It also advised readers to avoid wearing yellow or red clothing as it could cause confusion and unnecessary complications with local authorities and protesters.
