KUALA LUMPUR – The cancellation of the Better Beer Festival 2017 and other similar events was done for the greater good, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Home Minister said the police are “colour blind” when it comes to handling issues, adding that three individuals were arrested for planning attacks during the Better Beer Festival.
“The police are in the midst of collecting more information. They have identified the individuals who planned the attacks,” said Dr Ahmad Zahid in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday.
He added, when answering a supplementary question from M. Kulasegaran (DAP-Ipoh Barat), that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) had issued a warning before the festival’s planned date.
“This is not our culture. I hope you understand that the police are colour blind. Whatever action that was taken was meant for the good of everyone,” Dr Ahmad Zahid said.
Kulasegaran had asked if the police have identified the militant extremists who threatened such festivals. – The Star Online
