KUALA LUMPUR – The people should be proud and confident of the nation’s ability to address global issues such as the threat of extremism, in addition to the pursuit of universal security.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said various efforts by Malaysia not only attracted the attention of foreign countries, but also became examples to them.
“These countries say let’s try what Malaysia does in Bangladesh with three countries (Malaysia, Saudi Arabia & United Arab Emirate) united to create the Field Hospital, as well as what we do in the Sulu Sea involving co-operation between Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. we are on the right track.
“This gives us a lot of confidence in the political situation lately, that the advantages that Malaysia have are numerous, do not mortgage (them) because of emotion, because we are angry, what’s more because of false news,” he said.
He said this to reporters after closing the Army Commanders Roundtable Discussion participated by 19 countries in conjunction with the 2018 Asian Defence Services Exhibition (DSA) and the National Security Exhibition (Natsec).
Commenting on the participation of foreign countries at 2018 Asia DSA and Natsec, Hishammuddin said close relations among overseas leaders beyond official relations could facilitate every initiative and new collaboration to be implemented because of the trust and sincerity Malaysia exhibited.
The four-day exhibition, which began on Monday at the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre, here, gathered about 1,500 defence-related companies and 350 delegates from 45 countries.
It was expected to attract 40,000 visitors and become the platform for top management of defence and security around the world to exchange ideas, while providing opportunities for industry players to market their products. – BERNAMA
