CAMERON HIGHLANDS: A Bangladeshi man died after he was buried in a minor landslide in Kampung 1, Pos Terisu, here Thursday.
It is learnt that Kassim Munshi, 40, of Pripur, Dhaka, was buried by the earth as he was asleep in a hut on the slope of a hill.
Cameron Highlands Police chief DSP Muhammed Rizal Kamarudin said the landslide occurred at about 2am after the earth was loosened by heavy rain.
“We were notified of the incident at 8.15am by Kassim’s uncle who works in that area where there is no landline telephone communication,” he said.
“Kassim is believed to hasve been in the area over the past two or three days and did not carry any identification document,” he said.
Muhammad Rizal said the body was removed from the debris at 9.30am and sent to the Sultanah Hajah Kalsom Hospital in Tanah Rata.
“Two officers and 16 personnel from the police and fire and rescue service were involved in the search-and-rescue operation,” he said.
