KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has always been an idol and ‘benchmark’ for developing countries, says Bangladesh Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Foreign Affairs chairman Dr Dipu Moni.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia said the matter was stated by Dr Dipu when she paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Parliament House here Thursday.
“She said attention is always given to Malaysia by developing countries like Bangladesh and Africa because this country has achieved success in the social, political and economic fields,” he told Bernama after the 20-minute courtesy call.
Pandikar Amin said Dr Dipu, who was also Bangladesh’s former foreign minister, also expressed appreciation to the Malaysian Government for accepting foreign workers from Bangladesh.
Malaysia’s openness towards the people of Bangladesh, according to Dr Dipu, has spurred economic growth in both countries, said Pandikar Amin.
