KUALA LUMPUR – The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) is expected to announce later today that Lee Chong Wei’s B sample has tested positive for banned substance dexamethasone.
BAM has called for a press conference at 2pm today, to be chaired by deputy president Datuk Norza Zakaria.
Chong Wei tested positive during the World Championships in August.
He requested for his B sample to be tested following the positive result of his A sample.
The B sample was tested in Oslo, Norway on Wednesday, during which Chong Wei was present.
The shuttler will now have to appear before a Badminton World Federation panel, which will decide his fate.
The two-time Olympic silver medallist could be banned for two years, although he could face a lesser sentence based on his track record. – NST Â Online
