JOHOR BARU: The Welfare Department will continue to provide counselling for parents of the eight-month-old baby who was mauled by a monitor lizard in Pulau Tioman on Monday.
Johor Women, Family and Community Development Committee chairman, Asiah Md Ariff, said Nur Hidayah Abdul Rahmanâ€™s mother, Nor Raudhah Maisarah Abdullah, was still traumatised by the incident.
â€œShe witnessed the attack herself and she had to fight off the monitor lizard to save her daughter. It is not easy to forget such trauma.
â€œThe department will provide the necessary counselling for her parents for as long as it is needed,â€ she said after visiting the two at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) here yesterday .
Nur Hidayah who received 150 stitches after the attack, is expected to be warded for another week before being discharged.-NST
