Azmin Believes Pakatan Can Be Saved

in Latest/Politics

KUALA KRAI – The DAP may have declared that Pakatan Rakyat no longer exists, but PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali doesn’t think so.

He acknowledges differences among the three partners, especially between the DAP and PAS, but believes the opposition pact can be salvaged.

The Selangor Menteri Besar said the three should have immediate talks to avoid a breakup of their partnership.

“Sit down and discuss things cordially, with respect for one another, and I believe we can all do what is good for the rakyat and the country,” he told reporters after handing over house keys to victims of the December floods at Desa Darul Ehsan here today.

Also present was Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob.

The Selangor government is building 60 houses for the victims at a cost of RM62,000 each, totalling RM3.7 million.

On the DAP blaming PAS for the collapse of Pakatan, Ahmad said that “they were the source of the problem”.

“The DAP was the cause of the problem from the start. They severed ties with PAS in Sarawak, then in Sabah, and later with the PAS president (Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang),” he added.

In KUALA LUMPUR, PKR vice-president Tian Chua said an official statement would be issued by PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The DAP move to declare Pakatan Rakyat no more raised speculation as to the status of the PKR-led Selangor state government.

“Selangor is stable; no issues in Selangor. There will not be a state election,” said Tian Chua.

The Selangor state assembly has 56 seats, divided among PAS (15), DAP (15), PKR (13), Barisan Nasional (12) and independent (one). – BERNAMA
