SHAH ALAM: Selangor athletes who won gold in individual events, at the recently concluded Malaysian Games 2016, will receive a remuneration of RM5,000 each whilst team event champions will receive RM2,000 to RM3,000 each.
This was announced by mentri besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali during the state legislative assembly sitting Monday.
According to Azmin, the increase in the remuneration amount was in line with the state’s increase of the Sukma allocation from RM958,000 to RM1.1 mil.
“As a caring government, their achievement must be given the due recognition,”said Azmin.
He said Selangor highly valued the dedication and hardwork of the state’s athletes and sports officials for making the state proud with their victory.
Selangor emerged the overall champion in the Sukma games, which concluded last week after a two-week run at the Stadium Putra, in Kuching, Sarawak, with 59 gold, 73 silver and 63 bronze medals.
The mentri besar also conveyed Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s congratulatory message and added the state’s athletes were also motivated by the presence of Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah at the event.
The Raja Muda had spent three days at the Sukma and had attended seven out of all the events the Selangor team had competed in.
