KANGAR – Anything which is harmful including playing Pokemon Go game which has triggered a new wave to mankind, should be avoided, said Perlis Mufti Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin.
He said any act which threatened personal safety or the safety of others was prohibited in Islam.
“Therefore it is clear that anything which is harmful should be prevented and this does not refer to Pokemon Go game alone, but also other things which have a similar effect,” he said in a statement, here, today.
Mohd Asri said everyone needed to be sensitive as harm did not only come in the form of this modern game but also through actions, ideology and practices which could also destroy future generations and countries.
“Do not get carried away playing Pokémon Go and discussing about the game, at the same time pay attention to other harmful elements which are in our midst.
“For example, a person who smokes at public places may talk about the dangers of playing the Pokemon Go game, but is oblivious to the fact that smoking has been detrimental to mankind for a very long time,” he said.
The augmented reality game developed by Niantic Incorporation of Nintendo USA was released in Malaysia last Saturday, and has since received mixed reactions from the public. – BERNAMA
