PUTRAJAYA: The National Audit Department has started an audit on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) following a Cabinet directive to do so last week.
There is however no timeframe as to when the audit will be completed,
Auditor-General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang said at a press conference here today.
“Our teams have started the audit on 1MDB. We have collected as much information as possible relating to the issues raised by the media.
“I have also met the 1MDB chief executive officer Arul Kanda, who promised to give full cooperation to us in the audit.
“We also hope that the other related parties would also give us their full cooperation,†he said at a press conference here today.
The outcome of the audit will be handed over to the Public Accounts Committee.
“We are very concern on the quality of the audit and we have to balance between speed and accuracy,†said Ambrin.
He added the National Audit Department will do whatever necessary to carry out the audit including engaging external experts if the need arises.-NST
