KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) is ready to mobilise its assets to face the monsoon (rainy) season.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the Cabinet had been informed of the ATM plan.
“The ATM will not hesitate to help and will give full support as long as it does not compromise the safety of our members,” he told reporters after participating in Malaysian United Run organised by Institut Onn Jaafar at Padang Merbuk here today.
Hishammuddin said based on the experience of the last monsoon season, the ATM was ready to face any eventuality.
“We do not know what may happen and have made early preparation for major flooding,” he added.
Meanwhile, the 5km charity run was participated by over 10,000 people, including students from 17 institutions of higher learning, hence made it into the Malaysia Book of Records as the largest participated charity run. – BERNAMA
